Renée is known for her fondness of all things delicious just as much as her passion for spreading the word about healthy cooking, eating, detoxing and cleansing. She has been living her passion as a nutrition professional for more than 10 years. Time spent in the Napa Valley in California completing a 10 month dietetic internship influenced her traditionally southern palate and culinary focus to evolve into a soulful California cuisine. Having lived in the Middle East and traveled extensively while growing up, she has a well rounded palate and especially embraces the Mediterranean diet. She believes in cooking without wheat, pork or beef, yet with lots of flavor and healthy fats. “Integrating food, health, and pleasure” and “balancing the love of food with the love of you ” is how she describes her culinary and nutrition focus.
Renée attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where she received her B.A. in psychology, and Life University, Marietta, GA where she obtained her B.S. in nutrition and dietetics. She holds a certificate of adult weight management, and continues to study holistic nutrition with an emphasis in digestive health as well as culinary arts on an ongoing basis. A busy wife, mom, and blogger, Renée also serves as Dietitian and Quality Assurance Chef at U.C. Berkeley, where she provides food allergy training to the culinary staff and teaches cooking classes as a life skill to students. If you are in the northern California area, you may connect with Renée in her meetup, Green is the New Black.
Renée is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition Entrepreneurs and Food & Culinary Professionals Dietetic Practice Groups.
